FA Cup Quarter-Final Draw: The Road To Wembley Goes Via Merseyside

The quarter-final draw of The FA Cup has been made, and our road to Wembley looks set to go through Merseyside as we'll be facing Everton at Goodison Park.

The game will be played on the weekend of March 17th & 18th. No doubt it will be televised too.

We've played Everton in the FA Cup 14 times, and only come away with the win 4 times. 8 of those games have been played at Goodison, and of those 8 we've only won 1, so this is quite clearly a tough draw.

The last time we played the Toffees in the FA Cup was in the 2004/05 season when we were on the receiving end of a 3-0 tonking at Goodison, whilst the last time we beat them in the world's most famous cup competition was in the 1978/79 season when goals from Bob Lee and Gary Rowell saw us through in a 2-1 victory.

That solitary cup victory at Goodison Park was way back in the 1937/38 season, when Bobby Gurney netted the only goal of the game.

More recently though, we know that Everton have been a bogey-side for us of sorts, and I'd have liked our chances much more had we been at home, but given the revival under Martin O'Neill who's to say that we could come unstuck? Maybe Everton are no longer our bogey-side! Either way, there shouldn't be any fear at all...
