Wahey! Sunderland might be losing, but Roker Riches exploited the situation last week and popped by to tell you that you could get Birmingham City at 9/1 to win 2-0. I hope during this testing time, it at least paid for a few beers for you all!
So, the pressure is on this week for me to get two on the bounce, and much like Steve Bruce "finish the season strongly"... if only I too could blame injuries etc.
That shall not stop me! I will get another win, and sunderland shall grab their first win in what is it now, 15 years or something? Lets do this...
For the first time in as long as I can remeber, we're actually favoured for the game at 11/10 as opposed to Wigan's 5/2. Favourites, slight favourites, but either way, it's a positive that people think we're more likely to win.And fingers crossed we should win. We're at home, and despite yet more injuries, there was a markedly improved performance at Birmingham, which with a home crowd (in the main) on our side, there's no reason not to get a result.
Wigan however are buoyed by their own result at the weekend, a cracking 3-1 win at Bloomfield Road over fellow strugglers Blackpool. That said, even we won there.Wigan's away form at the moment isn't much better than our own, looking like this in their five games previous to Blackpool - LDDLL.
There's certainly goals to be had this weekend, although it's unlikely to rise above two goals for us at home, who are yet to score more than two in a home league match, and Wigan 'boast' the second worst Goal Difference in the league at -21.
I fancy us to sneak it 1-0 at odds of 11/2, and if like me you fancy Asamoah Gyan to get back to his old self, then you could double up to 22/1.
Other intriguing prospects include Draw HT/Sunderland FT at 4/1, and indeed another First Scorer option - Phil Bardsley at 25/1.
Of course, if you're still very much in the naysaying gang, then why not back us to capitulate once more. Boylesports are offering 18/1 that Wigan come from behind to win.
Roker Report's Best Bet: Sunderland to win 1-0 at 11/2.
Whatever you chose, I hope it pans out for you nicely, and even if it doesn't, I hope we're celebrating a win.
Be lucky.
