Fan Focus - Blackpool (H) Post-Match Views

We caught up with an ecstatic John Campbell of BFCblog.co.uk to get his views on what was a strange day at the Stadium of Light..

"Aren't you supposed to have boobs? Like, just there?"

Matt Phillips looked really impressive for your lot, was Grandin getting injured a blessing in disguise?

John: Yeah, he won the corner for the 1st goal I think and then the cross for the second so he did have a massive impact. I think if Grandin had stayed on we would have kept the ball a little more.

Phillips looked a real danger, and for me was your star man. Who was top boy in your opinion?

John: There was a number of stand out players for me, Vaughan passed well as did Sylvestre who hasn't played much football. Kingston somehow kept a clean sheet, the central defenders Evatt and Cathcart did well too. But for me DJ Campbell just nipped it with the two goals and some great hold up play.

You pointed out in the pre-match Fan Focus that Richard Kingson was a bit dodgy, he looked it today don't you think?

John: Yeah, he miss controlled a pass in the 1st half and made a meal of a couple of saves. However he pulled off a couple of great saves in the second half and kept the clean sheet.

We had so many chances to kill the game off before it got to 2-0, but credit to Blackpool, they stood their ground. Did you expect to cave in at any point or did you have full confidence you'd hold out?

John: Very little confidence. It looked like you were going to get a goal, with the amount of changes creates and the quality in Bent, Gyan and Welbeck it felt like the goal would come. But the more time went on, and the more chances missed it looked like it was going to be one of those days.

Blackpool's swift attacking and movement was a pleasure to watch at times, and I wished we'd took a leaf out of your book and tried that ourselves! What do you make of the gung-ho attitude away from home?

John: It's great fun to watch, but not great for the oldies, not sure some of them can take much more of it. Sometimes it comes off other times it doesn't, today it was a case of it working.

Anyone from Sunderland impress you? From our side I think it was a toss-up between Henderson & Welbeck for star man.

John: I thought Bramble was good once he came on, Henderson gets around the park a lot, he looks like he'll be a great player in a few years time.

You've moved to 8th, we've remained 7th. Where do you see both our clubs finishing at the end of the season?

John: I think 7th place would be good for Sunderland. As for ourselves 17th or above that will do for me.
